PAIRING FITNESS WITH FUN!
Crossfit kids (age 3-17) is a functional movement programme combining gymnastics, body- weight movements and weight lifting elements to teach children and teens efficient mechanics and create a broad athletic foundation. (Courtesy CrossFit Inc)
Our programme teaches children efficient movement mechanics, creating a broad athletic foundation. It offers an opportunity for children of all ages and abilities to maximise their physical skills during years of peak development.

Classes are divided into three different age groups:
Pre-school – 3-5 years
These sessions will run for approx 25-30 minutes (parents are asked to stay) during which children will learn the basics of new skills such as the air squat.
Preschool sessions will be based around game play, with a focus on fun, simply aimed at getting children moving through functional movement patterns.
Kids 4-12 years
These sessions will run for approximately 40 minutes (parents are encouraged to stay, especially parents of the younger children).
Kids sessions are similar to the Preschool with activities more age appropriate. They will learn functional movements which will be applied to games and short fun workouts.
As the children in these classes progress and show competency with our movements, we will begin to introduce some load i.e. lifting a kettlebell safely from the floor.
Teens 13-17 years
These sessions will run for approximately 1 hour, with the focus on technique work, the workouts are short and fun to keep our athletes engaged.
Providing these athletes are competent in all the movements, they will begin to work with barbells and will add load depending on individual ability.
Teens will also be introduced to some of the more advanced movements of CrossFit and may work towards a sport specific strength and conditioning programme.
The CrossFit kids programme aims to pair fitness with fun, thus creating a lifelong love of health and fitness for our children.
WHO IS CROSSFIT KIDS FOR?
Every child! CrossFit is full of functional exercises, in other words movements we do each day! CrossFit kids workouts are varied across the 10 physical skills which will inevitably increase fitness levels of all the kids and teens involved. Everyone is encouraged to work at their own ability and adjustments are made if necessary to accommodate the specific needs and requirements of each individual.
ARE PARENTS REQUIRED TO STAY?
It is best for parents to stay if they have children are in the preschool group or younger children in the Kids group.
WHY SUCH A BIG AGE RANGE?
The kids age range is quite wide so we often will split the group amongst our coaching staff depending on the content of the session and the individual abilities and comprehension of each child. The activities are differentiated to be sure all the athletes are getting the most out of the session.
IS IT SAFE FOR MY CHILD TO LIFT WEIGHTS?
Yes it is! Weight training increases bone density and produces healthier children that are less prone to injury. We understand there are many myths around this subject please do get in touch we can discuss and provide you with some research that says the opposite. Please also note that only when they have mastered our movements will we introduce our older children and teens to load (weight).
